Crab'n Gear Pot Spreader
Good quality pots are tightly strung to ensure that the funnels and entrances remain secure, effectively catching and holding crabs. Consequently, the pot legs need to fit snugly between the two rings. Our pot spreader is a simple, two-piece apparatus made from stainless steel that uses leverage to make spreading the pot wide enough to insert the legs a breeze.
To use, stand the pot on its end with the top closest to you, place the U-shaped end of the shorter handle on the top ring, and the U-shaped end of the longer handle on the bottom ring. The longer handle will be at an angle. By pulling it down, you stretch the rings apart. Once the rings are wide enough, use your other hand to swing the top of the leg into place and release the pressure on the handle. You're done! A bolt through the centre of the handles can be moved between two pre-drilled holes to adjust the handle length for different pot leg lengths. To fold the pot down, simply position it the other way around, with the top of the pot away from you, making the legs easier to collapse.
